Can you say Udderly Smooth Unique Uses 10 times fast? I can’t! I remember the first time I tried an Udderly Smooth product. I was in my freshman year at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. I had been working at a sale yard pushing cows back to the pens after they were sold. Doesn’t that sound glamorous? I loved it! Unfortunately that day we had a cow on the scale that was going ballistic. I was told to run to open it’s pen number that was at the far end of the sold pens. It was March and the snow had started melting and there was probably a foot of green, slushy, snow water that I was running through when I stepped into a hole and literally hydroplaned across the water. I jumped up and kept running, got to the pen, opened the gate and saw the cow calmly walking down the alley way.
I was not a happy camper. I limped my way into the cafe where the first aid kit and other stuff was kept, met the stares of all the old rancher and asked the cook if they had hydrogen peroxide to pour onto my knee. After gritting my teeth and doing my best not to cry in front of all the guys I poured it straight into the hole in my knee and then got someone to take me home so I could clean out all the gravel and other fun things left in there. Looking back on it I probably didn’t handle that as well as I should have. I should have gone to the hospital and gotten stitches. The scar on my knee is not pretty but it didn’t get infected and it healed fairly well. So where in all that does Udderly Smooth come in? After my knee scabbed over it started itching so bad! One of my friends said I had to try this stuff, it worked great for their cows and other animals and she knew it would help. Yup, Udderly Smooth! Over the next month I used the entire tub on my knee and my hand that had been cut up pretty good as well. Since that time I’ve always had some on hand.
It wasn’t until I was given the opportunity to be a part of this review team that I realized how many different products are apart of the Udderly Smooth family. When I opened the package I was so excited to see purse sized tubes of lotion with scents! I love the unscented one but it’s so nice to have a good lotion with a reasonable scent that doesn’t completely overwhelm you. I’ve stuck with the original version for almost 20 years but I am loving the Foot Cream with Shea Butter. It has transformed my cracked heels.
I’ve used Udderly Smooth around Colby’s feeding tubes (yes, he has 2 feeding tubes, because he is just that lucky!) to keep the gunk from sticking to it. It ends up keeping his stoma nice and smooth with no granulation tissue. There’s no greasy residue leftover like so many barrier creams have to stain up his shirts. His ears also get cracks behind him from using a nasal cannula for oxygen at night. If I use the lotion on his ears it prevent that from happening. I just have to remember to put it on a few minutes before putting the cannula on him to let it soak in. I’ve also started using it on any red spots I notice after I take him out of his wheelchair. He (knock on wood) has never had a pressure sore in the 8 years since his stroke. I think a huge part of that is that I compulsively search him for any area it could happen on a daily basis but also to taking care of any potential problems before they become problems. I’ve heard but don’t have experience with it that Udderly Smooth is great for oncology patients and diabetics. John hasn’t had any skin problems when he was on chemo and radiation so I never used it on him.
I hope you’ll consider trying some of the Udderly Smooth products that are now available in your local Walmart First Aid section. They are affordable, such good quality, and they are a family owned business made here in the USA which is something I am always happy to support.
